Sales Management Trainee Program Week 20

As a sales analyst on the South team I am responsible for supporting 11 customer category managers (CCMs) who are placed in five divisions around the U.S., including California, Arizona, and Texas. One of the biggest responsibilities I have been given since I joined the team is helping the CCMs in Southern California and Northern California plan their 2016 promotions. It takes a lot of careful planning to ensure that each promo will be profitable. Other than planning for 2016, I run reports to help each CCM see how different products are doing in their divisions and see where there are opportunities to sell in more product. Recently, I was able to find our divisions thousands in extra money to use for promotions for the rest of 2015.

One of my favorite experiences so far was attending a Category 101 in Chicago, where our new co-headquarters is located, to learn more about the Kraft brands. Since I support people who previously sold Heinz and Kraft products it is important that I understand each product and how well it does in the market. During this 101 I was also able to reconnect with some people I had met back in Pittsburgh and meet new people from the Kraft team!

Although I still learn something new every day, I am starting to feel more comfortable and confident in my role. We merged offices with Kraft a month and a half ago and everyone here has been so welcoming. It’s great to be around people who know the business so well.
California is beautiful and I’m finding a new adventure each weekend. Last weekend I went to the Zach Brown Band concert in Mountain View and attended the Fry’s.com Open in Napa Valley and saw Rory McIlroy play golf. This weekend I found arguably the best view of the Bay Area and watched the sunset from the top of Grizzly Peak after a 4 mile hike in Tilden Regional Park! I can’t wait to keep exploring my new home and making the most of living a short drive from some of the most beautiful areas of the country.
