With our first week behind us, we are moving on to Finance Week, the first of many immersions to come. As all my previous experiences (internships and summer jobs) were in banks or private equity funds, I was looking forward to this week since the beginning of our program. We began with presentations from leaders across financial areas that provided insight into what they do day by day and how they connect to each other within the Business Units.
The presentations on the first day gave us an overview of a few of the key financial areas at the company before moving onto deeper discussions with case studies: CapEx (Capital Expenditure) and ZBB (Zero Based Budgeting). I heard that The Kraft Heinz Company is extensively data-driven, but I had no idea how much data we could obtain. Within our case studies, we could only analyze what was most important and focus on it!
Also, we had the opportunity to be a leader in our own business through the Consumer Goods & Service Simulation. For me it was a huge learning experience, not only because we had to make the decisions based on rational analysis, but also because we had to work as a team to decide he best strategy for the business. I’ve learned a lot and I ‘m sure that I am just getting started!
