Corporate Management Trainee Program Week 21 2016

Last week, I turned 23. On a Tuesday. Nothing sounds quite as uneventful as turning 23 on a Tuesday.

To be honest, I had not been looking forward to my birthday too much. This was my first birthday not in the same city as either my family or my lifelong friends. It was my first birthday going to work, as I have always taken it off and travelled. On top of that, I had a really busy day with meetings most of the day.

It turns out that 23 can be a pretty great birthday after all, even on a Tuesday. I was greeted at my desk with a Kraft Heinz birthday balloon –which is every bit as exciting as it sounds. People I had not previously met to stopped to wish me happy birthday and brighten my day even more.

The true surprise came when I returned from a meeting to see an envelope left on my desk. The card inside was signed with kind birthday messages from my cohort and contained a ticket to the Second City Comedy show! Some also bought tickets for themselves so we could have a fun cohort outing. The show was hilarious and I loved being there with my friends.

I could go on and on about how much I am enjoying my role as a Materials Analyst in my Logistics Continuous Improvement group, but it is important to point out that one of the main reasons the Corporate Management Trainee Program is so special is because of the people. My cohort and I have lunch together whenever possible. We explore Chicago as a group one brunch place at a time. Some of us are planning a road trip to my alma mater for a football game this fall. And, my cohort made my birthday so very special by letting me know they were thinking about me and surprising me with an amazing gift. I could not imagine starting at Kraft Heinz without this incredible group of people. I rely on them professionally and personally and am grateful to call them all my friends.
