This week officially marks the end of summer and more importantly – the 5th week of our first rotation! It’s crazy how quickly time passes when you work full time and only have 2 day weekends. Just to give some background, I graduated from Babson College in May with a Business Administration degree and a concentration in Retail Supply Chain Management. My current placement is on the Learning & Development Team where I work on the Learning Academy portion of Ownerversity. So, it’s safe to say that I went into my role without any sort of relevant background – but that’s the beauty of Kraft Heinz. It’s all about stepping out of your comfort zone and learning on the job.
My project on the L&D Team has two main parts: 1) Creating a toolkit from scratch to help new managers in the company accelerate their transition from being individual contributors to managers of people, and 2) plan & execute a 3-day leadership conference on September 13-15 for 40 KHC employees coming to Chicago from all over North America. The freedom and responsibility entrusted to me was a little scary in the beginning. However, it has allowed me to quickly develop skills like project planning and vendor management. It has also given me the unique opportunity to learn all about management at Kraft Heinz despite just starting as a Trainee straight out of college.
