Business Development Trainee Program 2018 Week 11

Greetings from Pittsburgh!

My name is Emily Hausler, and I am a recent graduate of Florida State University. Week 11 of the Business Development Trainee Program has come to an end, and it’s crazy to think that we are already half way through our rotation.

I have been living in Pittsburgh for the last nine weeks with two other members of my cohort, Kerri and Maggie. We have been eager to explore and experience the city, during our time here. Pittsburgh is a city that is rich with culture, history, and above all SPORTS. Living in the downtown area, we are in an optimal location, as it is a quick walk to baseball and football games, Point State Park, and the Market Square. As summer gradually ends, Pittsburgh gears up for their one true love, football. Last week Kerri and I experienced our first Steelers game. Being that it was preseason, we only got a little taste of this city’s undying love for football, and are looking forward to the first game of the season. Aside from football, I am excited to further take advantage of all this city offers, while also learning more about Kraft Heinz and my role as an In-Store Partner.

Back in July, Kerri, Maggie, and I joined the Pittsburgh sales team, along with two other In-Store Partners, and the team expanded twofold. Our Associate Manager, who previously had a team of six males, welcomed five females to the team! Our team supports two banners in the Pittsburgh region, Giant Eagle and Walmart. My territory covers six Giant Eagles and one Walmart. While the two banners vary greatly from one another, each store within that banner is unique and requires a tailored approach to support their store’s needs. I can confidently say that no two stores are the same and relationship building is essential, as it has allowed me to understand each store’s specific needs to better execute displays, close gaps, and grow business. During our time as In-Store Partners, we have had two team meetings, two power windows, one project checkpoint, and a lot of fun!

My time in Pittsburgh has been invaluable, as my knowledge of the business has grown rapidly, and I am excited to learn even more during the next 11 weeks!
