Hello! My name is Bryce Svenson. I am currently a student at Brigham Young University (BYU) studying marketing… Go Cougs! I have the opportunity to spend this summer as an Intern at Kraft Heinz in the wonderful city of Minneapolis.
So, What exactly am I doing working as a Sales Intern?
In short, the program is an opportunity to work in a professional sales office environment and add value to the team with real world projects. The program serves as a great opportunity to explore various sales roles ranging from analysts, category managers, to in store representatives.
This week I am spending my time in the stores doing retail. Essentially sales reps (or CRMs) spend their time working in concert with stores to provide greater sales volume and consumer consumption. CRMs will suggest product mix improvements, ensure all promotions run correctly and help set up displays in smaller stores. The intern team especially enjoyed the change of pace from office life and had some fun sticking coupons on various Kraft Heinz products.
Other activities within the last week have also included: a Minnesota baseball game, and a visit to one of Minneapolis renowned gallery’s, The Museum of Russian Art. I lived in Russia for two years and have earned a healthy love and respect for their culture. I had the opportunity to visit a portal to Russia in the form of soviet artwork. It was an incredible experience after sharing my joy in finding the museum friends and coworkers pointed out all of the cultural and art museums in the immediate area. I have added the following museums to my must-see list: the American Swedish Institute, Walker Art Center, and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. The city has a vibrant art scene that should be explored. If you have the opportunity take it.
All in all, I have had a great experience here in Minneapolis. I am trying to see as much as I can and more importantly learn from the experienced salesmen and saleswomen who work in the office. They offer a wealth of knowledge and experience and are the true highlight of this internship. The program has assigned me a real project that adds significant value to the company. You can’t ask for much more in an internship program.
